　　縱橫樂壇超過50年的比吉斯合唱團 (Bee Gees)，自1965年發行第一張唱片之後，30餘年間不斷有新作問世，合計出版過22張錄音室專輯，堪稱十分長壽且多產的團體。在台灣，比吉斯也極具知名度，他們的〈Massachusetts〉、〈Word〉、〈How Deep Is Your Love〉都是廣為傳唱的歌曲。

　　其實，比吉斯的星運並不是一直都那麼順遂。他們幾乎全部收錄抒情慢歌的專輯曾經有十分良好的銷售成績，但在1970年代早期，他們的專輯銷量開始持續滑落，到了1974年的《Mr.Natural》，甚至遠遠掉出了排行榜百名之外。在作曲家與音樂製作人的建議下，他們改變創作方針，嘗試了更具流行感的Disco舞曲。自下一張專輯《Main Course》開始，比吉斯的人氣又扶搖直上，直到1970年代晚期，藉由《周末的狂熱》(Saturday Night Fever)原聲帶與《神采飛揚》(Spirits Having Flown)專輯，達到前所未有的巔峰。

　　他們於1976年發行的《Children Of The World》，在美國專輯銷售榜的最高名次是8，但主打的第一張單曲〈You Should Be Dancing〉曾在美加兩國奪冠，其他著名的歌曲，則有〈Love So Right〉等。本文介紹的歌曲，是收錄在這張專輯最末兩首的〈The Way It Was〉，以及與專輯同名的〈Children Of The World〉。它們雖然不是熱門金曲，卻是比吉斯的所有作品裡面，我最喜愛的兩首。
